Diversity and Values at Wescom

As a Credit Union founded in 1934 by telephone company employees guided by principle of “people helping people,” we find it important to stay true to our roots as we continue to serve the needs of our more than 200,000 members throughout California. Below you will find Wescom’s Diversity Statement and Core Ideology that guide us as we build better lives for all.

Diversity Celebrations

Wescom Credit Union celebrates the following DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) focused observances throughout 2023.

January

Martin Luther King Jr. Day — the Wescom Foundation participated in the 2023 MLK Day of Service and Credit Union was closed in observance of the holiday.

February

Lunar New Year — Wescom branches had complimentary red envelopes available for members (while supplies last).

Black History Month — Wescom participated in the Pasadena Black History Month Festival and donated to local black-owned businesses through its #WescomKindness initiative.

March

Women’s History Month — female Wescom employees were highlighted and celebrated on Wescom’s social media channels to inspire future women into leadership roles.

April

Earth Day — the Wescom Foundation partnered with TreePeople to plant trees at Bud Bender Park in Rialto and partnered with L.A. Works to prepare urban greening and disaster preparedness kits.

May

Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month — Wescom donated to local Asian American businesses through its #WescomKindness initiative, including the USC Pacific Asia Museum.

June

Pride Month — Wescom sponsored the 2023 OC Pride Festival, continued its support of the UCLA Lambda Alumni Association, and donated to local LGBTQIA+ friendly businesses through its #WescomKindness initiative.

Juneteenth — the Credit Union closed in observance of the holiday.

July

Independence Day — the Credit Union closed in observance of the holiday.

September

Hispanic Heritage Month (9/15-10/15) — Wescom supported local Hispanic and Latin American-owned businesses through its #WescomKindness initiative.

October

Indigenous Peoples’ Day — the Credit Union closed in observance of the holiday.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

Wescom's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee and Council are comprised of volunteers throughout the organization from diverse levels, divisions, experiences, tenure, gender, ethnicities, and cultures. The DEI Committee and Council help set the foundation for an even more diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture at Wescom.
