You Can Replace Your Damaged Bills for Free.

Have you ever left a dollar bill in your pocket and only to find it sopping wet and maybe even torn after it went in the washing machine? Don't worry — the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing lets you exchange your beat up bills for free when:

  • The bill is damaged enough to where the value is unclear or questionable.
  • The bill is missing relevant security features.
  • More than 50 percent of the bill is intact.
  • Fifty percent or less of the bill is intact, and the cause of damage is supported by evidence.

To redeem full value of your damaged bill, just mail it to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing at MCD/OFM, Room 344A P.O. Box 37048 Washington, DC 20013 and include the following:

  • A letter stating the estimated value of the damaged bill
  • Your contact information
  • An explanation of how the bill became damaged
  • Your account and routing number, which you can find in eBranch or on the Wescom Mobile App

Wescom College Saver Certificates

College may seem far away. But college is really expensive, and if you start saving money for it now, you'll be in great shape when you're college bound a few years down the road. One way to put away money for college is with a Wescom College Saver Certificate. If you save a little now, you'll see your college fund grow and grow. Featuring a $250 minimum deposit and a 36-month term, you can make additional deposits during the Certificate's term until you're 18.

Talk to your parents about saving for college too. Let them know you want to start now, and fill them in on the ways Wescom can help — we'll make sure that when you do get to college, you'll be ready to pay for it.


Social Media Safety

Being on social media is fun — you get to chat with your friends, share photos, and get creative. But social media can lead to cyberbullying, making friends with the wrong person, or posting things that you may regret later. Here are some important things to keep in mind when using any social media channel.

  • Be nice. Treat others with respect and never post hurtful or embarrasing messages or photos. If someone isn't being nice to you on social media, tell your parent or guardian.
  • Think twice before sending. Avoid posting your home address, specific locations of where you are, your phone number, or when you're on a vacation.
  • Don't share your passwords. Passwords are there to protect you against things like identity theft — don't share them with anyone, even your best friend.
  • Don't "friend" strangers. If you don't know them, don't friend them — some people online are not who they say they are.
